How would you feel if you stop your car at a traffic light, and suddenly a stranger hopped in? He gives you orders — “Turn left… slow down… that way..” You would naturally feel confused and perhaps frightened. That is probably was how St. Peter felt when Jesus suddenly hopped into his boat and began giving him orders. Fortunately, St. Peter chose to obey Jesus’ orders and enjoyed the blessings he received for following him. Based on the readings of Isaiah 6: 1-8; 1 Corinthians 15: 1-11; & Luke 5: 1-11.

The gospel today talks about how Jesus experienced rejection from people, even in his hometown. Most, if not all of us have also experienced rejection and it is often a painful experience.
