In spite of the Samaritan woman’s scandalous life as explained in the gospel today, Jesus was not judgmental with her. Likewise, we also have shameful chapters in our lives and frequently struggle with temptations.  Yet, Jesus still reaches out to us like he did with the woman in the gospel.  Based on the readings of Exodus 17: 3-7; Romans 5: 1-8; John 4:5-42.

2nd Sunday of Lent

What do Abram in the 1st reading, and Peter, James, and John in the gospel have that is similar? They had the courage to trust and follow God even when circumstances make it difficult.  Lent is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn to follow God even when it is uncomfortable for us.  Based on the readings of Genesis 12: 1-4; 2 Timothy 1: 8-10; Matthew 17: 1-9.
